The port of Fremantle was founded in 1829 and has evolved through almost 200 years of rich maritime history, including host to the 1987 Americas Cup defence.
Attending the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle Boating Festival in April each year has rapidly become a tradition for thousands of boating enthusiasts and Western Australian families as they flock to the port city to celebrate its nautical heritage and water sport in all its forms. The rare combination of on-water and land displays attracts exhibitors with everything from $1.00 fishhooks to 20m luxury cruisers. For the third consecutive year the number of floating pontoons to be attached to the boardwalks of Fishing Boat Harbour will be increased to provide pens for the rapidly increasing number of large cruisers and yachts on display.
Adjacent to the harbour and its many restaurants is the hub of activity for trailer boats, marine equipment, diving and fishing accessories and a broad range of water sports. Esplanade Reserve Park is a landmark recognised by all West Australians.
The event date for 2008 is 18 – 20 April. We look forward to your participation.
